About the role
Vyxen is looking for an intermediate software engineer who can own meaningful features while continuing to grow their technical range. You will work across a modern TypeScript product and contribute to the systems behind discovery, messaging, communities, creator tools, media, payments, and safety.
Some work will arrive as a well-defined product need. Other work will begin as a user problem, a reliability issue, or an unclear edge case that needs technical shape. You should be comfortable asking the right questions, proposing a practical approach, and carrying work through production.
Responsibilities
- Design and build user-facing features, backend services, APIs, and data workflows.
- Translate product requirements and user problems into maintainable technical solutions.
- Write clear, well-tested code and take part in code reviews and design discussions.
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and deliver durable fixes.
- Improve the performance, reliability, observability, and security of existing systems.
- Collaborate with product and community-focused teammates to learn from real user feedback.
- Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully while verifying correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Document decisions and share technical context so future work is easier to understand.
Qualifications
- Three or more years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent experience shipping substantial production software.
- Strong working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript and experience with React, Next.js, Node.js, or comparable technologies.
- Experience designing or integrating APIs and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Solid understanding of testing, debugging, source control, and production deployment practices.
- Ability to reason about system behavior, performance, reliability, and security beyond a single code change.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, object storage, caching, queues, or real-time systems is helpful.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical teammates.
- Comfort working on an adults-only platform where privacy, consent, and safety are core engineering requirements.
