01 · What it actually is
Suggestion and trance, not mind control.
Erotic hypnosis is the kink use of ordinary hypnosis: an induction to get someone into a relaxed, focused state, then suggestion while they're there. Trance isn't sleep and it isn't unconsciousness. Most people describe it as absorbed rather than absent, the way you lose forty minutes to a book. Subjects can hear you, remember most of it, and can stand up and walk out whenever they want.
It works better on some people than others, and that isn't about willpower or intelligence. Suggestibility varies the way any trait varies. Some people drop the first time someone counts down for them, some need weeks of practice, and some never really get there no matter who's tisting. Failing to drop isn't a failure and doesn't mean you're doing it wrong, which is the single most common worry from newcomers.
What gets talked about in the room: whether files do anything compared to a live tist, building and reinforcing triggers, conditioning over weeks, fractionation, amnesia play and how patchy it really is, hands-free effects, safewords in trance, the difference between a domme who hypnotises and a hypnotist who happens to be dominant, and the recurring argument about whether the most popular file series is any good.
