01 · Finding a partner
Most roleplays die before the first post.
The usual cause of death is a mismatch that neither person checked for. One writes three lines and expects a reply in a minute, the other writes six paragraphs twice a day. One wants plot with romance somewhere in it, the other wants to skip to the ERP. Both are perfectly reasonable and together they're a scene that fizzles out by Thursday. Ten seconds of matching up front saves the whole thing.
A good ad in the room has the details that actually decide it: genre, whether you write one-liners or paragraphs, how often you can reply, what you want to play and what you'd rather not, whether the scene is ERP or not, and any hard limits. “Anyone want to RP?” is the equivalent of “hi” and gets the same result.
It's also worth saying what you want to be doing rather than only what you want to read. Plenty of ads describe a partner in detail and never mention the writer. The people who get picked up quickest tend to pitch a hook, a couple of lines of setup with a way in, rather than a shopping list of requirements.
