01 · Who is in the room
The appeal is usually not what people assume.
Ask around in here and the same answers come back. Older members talk about energy, enthusiasm and being with someone who hasn't decided everything about themselves yet. Younger members talk about directness, someone who knows what they want and says it, and the absence of games that make dating in your twenties exhausting. Money comes up far less often than the internet assumes, and the people for whom it is the point tend to say so plainly, which everyone prefers.
What gets discussed: how couples handle the reaction from friends and family, the practical business of different life stages, whether to introduce someone to your kids and when, being at different points on the career ladder, energy levels, and the very common experience of realising your preference at fifteen and only admitting it at thirty. Plenty of it is just flirting, and that's fine too.
The gap itself varies more than the label suggests. For some people it's eight years and feels enormous. For others it's thirty and barely registers day to day. There's no threshold that makes it official, and arguing about where the line sits is a good way to waste an evening. What matters more is whether two adults want the same thing.
